On Saturday, May 9th, Densho, in partnership with the King County Library’s Memory Lab, will host a Community Preservation Day at the Bellevue Library Makers Space from 1:30pm to 5:00pm. During this event, Densho staff will bring a mobile digitization kit to scan historical photos, documents, and other materials for inclusion in Densho’s online archives. Additionally, staff will conduct short interviews with community members to document reflections on the contemporary moment, helping to record history as it unfolds in real time. Densho staff will also lead a workshop on preservation, offering guidance on how to care for and safeguard personal and family heirlooms.
While the workshop will be open to the public, Densho will work with individual families and participants during assigned time slots for both digitization and interviews. All participants interested in scanning materials or doing an interview must sign up for a specific time slot. Register for a time slot on KCLS’ website.
