Community Guidelines

Treat others with respect, even when you disagree. We welcome differing opinions and perspectives, but personal attacks, insults, harassment, or comments intended to intimidate or belittle others are not permitted.

We encourage questions, discussion, and respectful debate about history and its connections to the present. Please focus on the ideas and topics being discussed rather than attacking the people sharing them.

Comments that spread, promote, or encourage hatred, discrimination, or violence toward individuals or communities based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other characteristics will be removed.

Densho’s work centers the voices and experiences of Japanese Americans and the communities affected by incarceration, racism, forced removal, and related histories. Please approach these subjects with care and respect, particularly when discussing the experiences of incarceration survivors, elders, families, and other community members.

Do not target, provoke, threaten, or harass Densho staff, community members, guests, or other users. Coordinated harassment, threats, or attempts to disrupt conversations may result in comments being removed or accounts being blocked.

Please keep comments and conversations reasonably related to the post or the work being discussed. Repeatedly posting unrelated content, promotional material, spam, or links will result in removal.

Densho reserves the right to remove comments or restrict accounts that violate these guidelines or interfere with the ability of others to participate in the conversation. Depending on the nature and frequency of the behavior, this may include removing individual comments, limiting interactions, or blocking an account.
